what i like (and don't like)

like - ryan theriot and ronny cedeno playing second & short - let the kids play

don't like - freddy bynum playing second

like - angel guzman pitching well against the phillies (he was supposed to be carlos zambrano before carlos zambrano)

don't like - ronny cedeno's swing (catch-22, huh?)

finally!

it looks like the cubs are starting to move forward (well, at least not backwards) by trading neifi to the detroit tigers. i don't even care that we got nothing back for him. it is a step in the right direction.

what the cubs had to say

this is a accurate assessment (see, i'm not the only one who thinks the way i do)

baker and prior

so, baker is going to testify to congress about steroids. what is he going to tell them. he doesn't even know who the best players on his team are (of course he doesn't get to pick them), how is he going to tell if any of them were on steroids?

prior went back on the dl (and likely done for the season). can you believe he was 18-6 in 2003? i thought we had a stud. he probably doesn't have 18 wins the past 3 years. guess he fooled us all. don't worry, though, he will bounce back next year since it will be his first year where he will be playing for a free agent contract...so don't trade him just yet. wait til next year's deadline so we can get something good...like a gold glove shortstop who can't hit! wait! we got one of those, ha!

wait til next year

ok, obviously it got kind of tedious doing this blog so i stopped the game-by-game updates. maybe i am not cut out to be a blogger. but, i will post my comments on what is happening with the cubs (especially when frustrated).

i do have to comment on the maddux trade, which drove me nuts. it's not that we traded a future hall of famer, it's that we got nothing for him. give hendry a hug for getting maddux to a team with a chance and that is close to his home. but what in the world is cesar iztuis going to give to this team? his on-base is terrible and we have no power. so he 's a gold glover...big deal. this signals the end for juan pierre as a cub. it should, at least. no team can have two guys that have .300 on-base pct and .300 slugging pct. that's baseball suicide.

i'm glad theriot got to play today. give the kid a shot. 3-3, 2sb. get rid of guys like neifi and isturis.
