houston, we may have a problem

the cubs pursuit of kaz matsui may be over if the rumors are true of him signing with houston. how this effects getting fukudome, we'll see. but the other trade between the mets and nationals has me concerned too. ryan church is going to the mets. supposedly, he was one of the backup guys if we couldn't get fukudome. not that i want church anyway, i'm just wondering what the plan is now?

hearing more about matsui coming to the cubs.

this is a move the cubs should make. i know a lot of people love "the riot", including me. i was one of the first to jump on the bandwagon....but he is just NOT an everyday player in the big leagues. then again, maybe kaz isn't either, but he is a switch hitter, would be a decent lead-off hitter, and could help in the acquisition of fukudome.

with kaz at short, d-ro at second with theriot as utility plus fukudome in right in replace of jacque, all that's left would be center (trade felix now, please).

this is great news! he is the one link left from 2003 and it's good to know he loves chicago as much as it loves him. people seem to wonder why he wouldn't take more years and more money from other teams (milwaukee, boston, san diego), but the average salary per year was less. looks like he is confident in his health and will look to have a good year this year and look for a new contract at the end of the season.

supposedly, he will compete for the closer job with marmol and howry. i don't care who gets the job (as it is the most overrated position in baseball), but the back end really looks good now.
